Kira held back the giggle as Roxas tried to play the defensive boyfriend. Was he the only one who didn't think of himself as an adorable wuss?
"I'm sure I don't know what you mean." Riku responded, walking a little faster to catch up to Kira.
Briefly, Kira wondered how it would all turn out. If Riku got Sakura, she would have to break up with Roxas, and that would make him sad. And Kira hated to see Roxas sad. On the other hand, it would make Roxas single.
Frowning, Roxas could only watch as Riku walked faster. He may not be the strongest guy around, but that didn't mean he couldn't defend his own girlfriend. But... when the guy ignored him, what was he supposed to do?
His shoulders sagged and he sighed. Sakura... he trusted her, so he wouldn't think more on it. Quickly, Roxas caught up to the two and didn't mention the subject again.
---
"Your teacher caught the flu; don't ask me how bad since I wouldn't know. I'm only the substitute here, so do whatever you're supposed to do," Luxord said in a monotone voice.
Sakura grinned at seeing a familiar British blondie in the teacher's desk. "Yo Luxord! What a sight to see you in school! I would have thought you'd be at some casino cheating everyone out of their money," she said with a snicker as she remembered walking in on him playing strip poker with a bunch of guys. Thankfully, the game wasn't near the end.
Luxord blinked and then grinned. "Ah, Sakura... Axel, and Demyx too. My least favorite poker player and my other least favorite poker players. It is not nice to see all of you again."
"So we burned a few cards, or drowned some, so what?" Axel muttered leaning against the wall. "Makes no difference really."
Luxord twitched. "Get to your assignment before I put all of you in detention."
"Ohh, scary," Sakura muttered before she went to her station dragging Axel by his shirt. "Let's go have some fun~"
Demyx groaned and said, "I knew I should have stayed home today..."
The silence between the three of them bugged Kira. "So, what do you think we'll be doing today? The Chem. room has been blown up, so they have to make us do something in the front courtyard." She hoped this would spark some sort of conversation between the two boys as they sat down in the grass.
"You will be doing exactly what we were going to be doing in the room had someone NOT blown it up!" Vexen growled standing in front of them. "If I find out who blew up my room for the second time, I WILL MAKE SURE THEY PAY!"
"Chill, seriously chill," Yuffie, probably the only junior in the chemistry class, spoke up. She was standing on the branch in the tree that they were under. She jumped down and grinned. "All of you envy my super ninja skills don't you?"
Roxas blinked and shrugged.
Yuffie rolled her eyes at his apathetic ness and looked back at Vexen. "I repeat, you seriously need to chill," she said as she saw his rapidly reddening face.
Kira definitely thought that Sakura and Axel should have to pay after blowing up the Chemistry room for the second time, but they were her friends and she definitely wasn't going to tell on them, unlike a certain little Kairi she knew...
"But weren't the beakers and chemicals that we were experimenting with also blowing up in the explosion?" Riku pointed out, like the smart bishie he was.
Vexen's eye twitched and he seemed like he was about to explode. Suddenly he calmed down and said, "I don't care what you do... just don't get into trouble." He then walked away seemingly emitting a cloud of despair.
Roxas blinked and wondered what they were going to do now. He suddenly wished that Sakura had chemistry with him right then so that they could just hang together...
"So basically we have a free period? Sweet!" Kira exclaimed. She glanced over at Roxas, who seemed a bit sad. "You okay, Roxy? Are you sad that you're stuck hang with Riku and I for a whole period?"
Riku stared ay Kira for a minute. She sure did care for Roxas a lot. She always seemed to want him happy. And she was almost as cute as Sakura... wait, what was he thinking? Usually he found both of the girls entertaining, but since when did he think they were cute?
Roxas shook his head. "I'm fine..." he said and looked away. Not knowing anything else to do, he stood up. "I'm going to go see what kind of trouble Sakura and Axel are getting up to."
"If I were you, I wouldn't want to know." Riku muttered. "After blowing up the chemistry room, who knows what they'll do next. Or who they'll do next..." A glare from Kira got him to shut up.
"C'mon Roxy, stay here with us. Please? They're probably just baking cakes or something and if they are setting things on fire, you don't want to be involved nor would you be able to stop it. Please stay?"
Roxas thought about her request and gently shook his head. "Just because I can't stop it doesn't mean I can't lessen the effects. Why don't you come with me Kira?" he asked not including Riku.
Kira sighed. She probably wouldn't be able to convince him to stay, so she might as well join him. "Fine I'll come with."
"As will I." Riku replied, inviting himself. He cocked his head to the side to see what Roxas would do about it.
Roxas frowned as Riku said that and looked away. "Whatever," he said as he stood up and started walking towards the doors.
Kira's frown matched the seriousness of Roxas'. She was worried about him. He seemed so depressed today. She quickly ran after him, Riku lagging behind but still following. In no time she was at his side, with Riku about ten feet behind them. "Are you sure you're okay? You seem so sad today. You know you can tell me anything that's on your mind."
'No that's Sakura's job. She's the girlfriend.' Kira shushed her thoughts and focused on Roxas and how she could make him smile.
Roxas shook his head and in a corner of his mind wondered why Kira cared so much. "I'm just worried that Sakura will get in trouble... again."
He wasn't surprised at why his girlfriend got into trouble so much. It was her source of outlet, he guessed. A way to express the loneliness she felt at her parents for not being around much in her life.
"There's her class," he pointed out.
"She gets into trouble because she's always around Axel," Riku commented from behind.
Kira ignored Riku and opened the door. "C'mon Roxas. I'm sure that they can't get into TOO much trouble..."
She had spoken too soon for they all smelt the burning before they dashed into the room.
"Ha! Take that Kairi! Our cookies score over yours!" Sakura boasted as she held up her plate of cookies.
Kairi frowned, almost near tears and protested. "But you burned mine! How can yours be better when you were the one to burn them?"
"Hey, at least I didn't make them flambé style like Axel did to that other kid's," Sakura pointed out.
She snickered at the moaning, groaning, and sobs that she could hear from that group. Ah... subs were great, especially if they were Luxord.
Demyx looked over to Sakura and Axel from the other side of the room and nearly pitied the stations beside them. He stopped as he remembered that he was a victim before.
Sakura heard the door open and a smile appeared on her face. "Roxas! You're here!"
Roxas smiled back and blinked as he suddenly found himself being glomped. "Hello Sakura."
"Hi," she said hugging him.
"Chemistry is a free period, so Roxy decided to visit you guys." Kira smiled and looked around the room. "How is it that you're not failing this class or getting ordered to go to a psychiatrist?" she asked, smirking at Kairi's burnt cookies.
"Hey Sakura." Riku greeted, moving hair out of his eyes and glancing around the room with a slightly worried expression.
"You did?" Sakura asked. She blinked and hugged him more. "You're so sweet."
She looked at Riku and smiled. "Hi Riku," she said and then her face fell and she said, "I'm not talking to you, you're bad."
Axel sauntered over to them. "We don't fail because Sakura's an awesome cook, at least a baker anyway. Plus, those psychiatrists are loony, they never work."
"I'm bad? How? I don't want the silent treatment, Sakura!" Riku complained, smirking in a sexy way.
"You have a point, Axel. But psychiatrists are supposed to take care of the loony ones. . . Like you." Kira sighed.
Sakura kept the blush wanting to form at bay and stuck her tongue out at him. She then withdrew from Roxas and smiled at him.
Roxas smiled back glad that she wasn't responding to Riku.
Axel scoffed and said, "I'm not loony. I'm just a pyromaniac. There's a difference."
Riku's eyes widened. "You're really serious... Oh Sakura..." He struck a very depressing pose that made many of the girls in the room swoon.
"You're a loony pyro. Not just a pyro. Sakura's just loony and best friends with a pyro." Kira stated.
Sakura's eye twitched and she looked at Riku. "Geeze, are you trying to flirt with me?... In front of my boyfriend?"
Axel rolled his eyes and said, "The destruction of the chem. lab last year was all thought up by her. Sakura is as much a pyro as I am. And, that's pyro, not loony."
"I ask my earlier question: why would I flirt with you? Especially with your boyfriend around." Riku pointed out. "I know you're taken, so there wouldn't really be a point, would there?" He didn't mention the fact that Sakura was now talking to him again.
"Blowing up a chem. lab does not make you a pyro. Just unstable. Especially when you do it twice. You're the loony pyro who had to make the explosives extra flamey." Kira replied.
Sakura frowned. "I'm not starting this old argument again." She turned away and took Roxas' hand in hers. "Want to have some cookies? I promise Axel had nothing to do with the making of them."
"Hey!"
Ignoring Axel's outburst, Roxas nodded. "Sure," he said to her and followed. He took a cookie and smiled at the rich flavor. "As always, it's good."
Sakura grinned. "Thank you!"
Kira sat on the only table that wasn't charred, Sakura and Axel's table. She snatched a cookie as well before they could do anything. "Mmm nummy. You should bring some to lunch. Want some, Riku?" Kira called him over, he did look oh-so-depressed over by the door anyway.
"Sure. I thought you liked arguing with me, Sakura-chan?" Riku wondered.
"I'll bring some," Sakura said nodding. She looked at Riku and frowned. "What's with the suffix?"
Roxas frowned. No one ever used suffixes unless it was for fun or because they liked that person... what was Riku using it for.
"Oh, nothing, nothing." Riku said mildly, grabbing a cookie. "Hmm... They're okay."
"What's the frown for, Roxy?" Kira muttered into his ear. Being right next to him, it was quite easy to do and she hoped no one had noticed.
"Nothing," Roxas replied.
Sakura looked over to Roxas and frowned as well. Riku was really cutting into their relationship. Sure, she had to admit, (and had admitted), that the guy was hot, but that was all. She liked Roxas for who he was, not his looks. Though, he was hot in his own way as well.
Demyx came up and his eyes widened. "Oh, Sakura, I just remembered. Don't you have to go see someone for tutoring instead of chemistry next period?"
Sakura's eyes widened even more than Demyx's and her jaw dropped. "Oh... no... I'm doomed! DOOMED I SAY! DOOMED!!!!!"
Roxas placed his hand on her shoulder worried. "Why?"
"I've got a tutoring session with... SEPHIROTH!" Sakura whispered though her whisper could be heard by all of them.
Axel laughed. "Well, aren't you screwed? And check the clock. Period ends in ten minutes." he taunted.
"Well, since they were banned from the science rooms, they had to get their credit somewhere..." Kira muttered. "Sephi's not so bad..." she tried to cheer up her friend, but she really couldn't do it without straight-out lying. Sakura was screwed.
"ROXY I'M GONNA DIE YOUNG!!!" Sakura moaned hugging him.
"No, you won't. I'm sure that he won't kill you," Roxas said trying to comfort her.
She ignored him and started rocking in his arms. Chanting about how her death was imminent.
Riku looked away from the happy couple, suddenly uncomfortable.
"He's gonna kill you he's gonna kill you" Axel chanted, making it a bit of a song. "Hey who are you giving your stuff to? We all know Roxy is going to Kira--"
Sakura suddenly growled and struggled to remove herself from Roxas. "ROXY IS MINE YOU FLURRY OF DANCING FLAMES!" she growled.
"Why are you growling at me? Kira is the one who-"
Kira cracked her knuckles threateningly. "I'm the one who what?"
Riku chuckled at all of this. Was Axel asking for it or what?
Axel winced and shrugged. "Ah, nothing. Look Sakura, five minutes left!"
Sakura froze and blindly grabbed the nearest person's shirt to hide her face in. "Death........"
"Sakura, you won't die. Now can you let go of me?" 'Not that I really mind' Riku thought, putting a hand on her head to comfort her.
Meanwhile Kira sweatdropped as she saw Roxas' face...
Sakura's eyes widened and she let go of him abruptly. "ROXY WHERE ARE YOU?" she whined.
Roxas had looked horrified when Sakura had grabbed Riku and breathed a sigh of relief when she let go. "I'm right here Sakura," Roxas said walking over to her. He held her and said, "You don't have to worry, if you're that scared, I can come with you."
Sakura blinked. "Really?"
Roxas nodded. "Yeah."
"Won't the teachers get mad that you're skipping?" Demyx commented.
"Yeah, Roxy. Sephiroth will kill you too if he found out. Which he will if you go." Kira added. "We know you meam well and all, but Sakura can handle sephiroth as long as she doesn't get him mad..."
"Except for the fact that Sakura always seems to get Sephiroth mad at one thing or another," Axel pointed out. "Basically, she's screwed."
Sakura heard Axel's comment and buried her face in Roxas' shirt, hm, and what a nice scent he had too. Ah, that was beside the point though. The point was, she was doomed! "I'm dead..."
"You're going to be okay, Sakura. really." Kira supported. "As for you Roxy, you have to get to Literature..." Kira remembered that that was the class that Roxas had alone with Riku and Axel.
"Speaking of Lit, 3...2...1..." Axel said before the bell rang.
Hearing the bell, Sakura broke free from Roxas and ran off practically making a cloud apear. She jumped through an open window and landed on the ground before continuing to run off.
Roxas' eyes widened and widened even more when he heard a blood-curdeling scream and then Sakura shouting that someone would never take her alive.... oh God, he hoped she wasn't talking to Sephiroth.
Axel snickered.
"C'mon guys we have to get to class." Kira encouraged, glancing out the window. "You can look forward to lunch in the next period..."
"Yeah, Roxas. Let's go to Lit class." Riku smirked.
"I hope I still have a girlfriend by lunch," Roxas muttered.
"Hey, if she dies, you're free to go get another girlfriend," Axel commented.
Roxas fixed a glare on him and said, "Say that again and I'll hit you."
Kira refused to make a reply to Axel's comment. She could be hopeful, but she wasn't going to hope that much.
"I'd like to see you try." Axel grinned.
"You guys are going to be late. I have to head to math, so bye." Kira sighed.
Roxas nodded to Kira before he completely ignored Axel and walked out of the room. 'Please don't get yourself killed...' he thought sending a silent prayer to Sakura.
---
"I don't get this! I don't want to get this!" Sakura whined. "Stop teaching me with that look that says you know better than me!"
Sephiroth refrained himself from rolling his eyes at her. She was exasperating and he rued the day the teacher assigned her to him. "It is a simple problem, if you do not understand it, you have no hope of passing chemistry."
"Fine, I have no hope of passing chemistry, please stop with this stupid problem!" Sakura bit out.
Sephiroth eye twitched and he concentrated on not doing something violent... "You will not be able to graduate without passing it."
"NOOOOOO!" Sakura moaned loudly.
"Here we are, Roxas. The Lit room." Riku said stiffly, opening the door and taking his seat next to the blonde-haired boy. Axel followed behind.
---
"It's really quite simple. Look at this part." Sephiroth explained, trying to be patient.
"I knew that, I'm not an idiot," Roxas replied with more force than necessary. He took his seat and stared out the window waiting for class to end before it even began.
---
"I see a dog... and a cat," Sakura replied stubbornly.
Sephiroth's eye twitched. "No, it's 2C+3He" HE was not going to be able to keep his cool much longer...
---
"I never said you were an idiot, Roxas. Why do you seem to despise me so much today?" Riku wondered, cocking his head,
"I will never conform to the rules of society! NEVER I TELL YOU! NEVER!" Sakura shouted jumping out of her seat. So... maybe she had a few more cookies than she should have..... who cares!
---
"Because you've been making passes at my girlfriend," Roxas replied not looking over to him.
"Since when? I'm friendly to her, like I always am." Riku responded, playing dumb. "Besides, even if I was, you shouldn't be worried. Don't you trust her?" His cerulean eyes stared at Roxas intently.
---
"THIS ISN'T EVEN ABOUT CONFORMING!!!!!" Sephiroth burst.
Sakura paused and seemed to shrink at Sephiroth's rage. She slowly started to back away and once she deemed herself far away enough, turned around and ran. "YOU'LL NEVER CATCH ME ALIVE COPPERS! HAHAHAHAHA!"
---
"I trust her, but that doesn't mean I want another guy competing with me for a heart that I've already won," Roxas replied. He turned around and met Riku's eyes with his own.
"Oh really? I always found a little competition fun." Riku smiled. "I thought you liked Kira anyway."
---
Sephiroth sighed and picked up his phone. "Hello security? My student just ran out of the room. If you could bring her back please,,, thank you."
Sakura blew past some straggling students and noticed security guards coming around the corner. She tried to run past them, but evidently they were used to her antics and merely dragged her kicking and screaming all the way back to where she had come from. "NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Sakura screamed.
---
Roxas raised an eyebrow and asked, "Where did you hear that from? Sakura is the one I care for, Kira is only a friend."
He looked toward the door when he heard a sound of running feet and then his eyes widened when he saw Sakura being carried away by security guards. "Oh god," he muttered.
He looked at Riku and said, "You still want to compete with me after that?"
Riku shrugged. "Oh c'mon. The way you were looking at her earlier? You like Kira. Admit it." he looked towards the door. "Don't worry about it. She can handle herself."
Roxas chose to ignore Riku and looked toward the window once more as the teacher came in.
"Alright class. Open your books to page 345 and once you're done reading Edgar Allen Poe's poem, write a response comparing it to the one on page 126" The teacher commented, sitting down at her desk.
Riku pulled out his notebook and tore out a sheet of paper. 'Admit it' he wrote, before placing it on Roxas' book.
Roxas stared at the paper on his book. 'I am in love with Sakura, not Kira,' he wrote back and placed it on Riku's book once he was assured that the teacher wasn't looking.
'Then would you mind if I asked Kira out?' Riku passed the sheet back and watched Roxas out of the corner of his eye to see his initial reaction.
Roxas read the note under the pretense of reading the poem. He scribbled down another reply and passed it back without the teacher knowing. 'I don't care. I've told you, I don't like her in that way.'
'I think you do. And is that a blush I see?' Riku chuckled and passed it back.
'Dammit Riku, stop trying to get me to break up with my girlfriend just so you can get with her!' Roxas wrote his eyes narrowed as he finished writing the note and passed it back.
'I'm not trying to get with her. You just won't admit that you're in love with two people.' Riku sighed.
'I am not in love with two people.'
The paper was suddenly taken from him when Tidus, who was sitting behind him, suddenly reached up and took it. He wrote something, and then passed it to Wakka, who passed it to Sophie, who passed it to Axel, who then passed it to Riku.
Roxas saw the amount of people who read the note and he sank his head to the table groaning inwardly. Great… just great… now there were going to be rumors all around, and Sakura wouldn’t trust him… would she?
"I'm sure I don't know what you mean." Riku responded, walking a little faster to catch up to Kira.
Briefly, Kira wondered how it would all turn out. If Riku got Sakura, she would have to break up with Roxas, and that would make him sad. And Kira hated to see Roxas sad. On the other hand, it would make Roxas single.
