'Wait, Roxy's dating Kira AND Sakura. Nice, dude!'
'That's not nice, you shouldn't be two-timing her.'
'I can't believe you Roxas! How could you be so mean to Sakura? She LOVES you. You should cut it off with Kira.'
'Or break up with Sakura. Kira clearly likes him too.'
Riku chuckled. They were all so long. Well, there was a possibility that Axel wasn't as wrong as the rest of them, but that was beside the point.
Roxas looked at his classmates/friends and noted how half of them were looking at him with glee on their faces while the other half was looking at him in disappointment.
He groaned and wished that the class period would hurry up and end so he could stop feeling eyes poking him.
Riku laughed at Roxas' hopeless expression. He couldn't help it. Something abot that boy's face just cracked him up.
The teacher's glare quickly subdued him, however and when she wasn't looking he passed the note back to Roxas.
'Interesting how they have the story so wrong, huh? That's teenagers for you. Well, except for Axel. He's accurate in that judgement, for once.'
"I am not breaking up with Sakura," Roxas accidentally said aloud. His eyes widened and he looked up to see the teacher full out glaring at him. He shot a look at Riku as if to blame him for getting him into trouble.
Riku masked his smirk and smiled apologetically to the teacher. Once she eventually engrossed herself into her computer again, he mimed the act of writing on the note to Roxas. "That's what it's there for, dumbass." he mouthed.
"Shut up," Roxas mouthed back. His relationship with Riku had never been good, and it was getting worse.
He blinked when he felt a piece of paper thrown at him. He opened it to see that it was from Sophie, her handwriting was all curls.
'Roxas! I'm ashamed of you! You're going to date Sakura and Kira at the same time! I thought you were better than that!'
His shoulders slumped and he twitched. That was it. No more. No more notes. He shook his head and concentrated on what he should have been doing for the past ten or fifteen minutes.
Riku waited for a few minutes, drumming his fingers on the table. When it became apparent to him that Roxas wasn't responded to the note, he pulled out another sheet of paper. 'You know, I never said you should break up with her.'
Roxas saw the piece of paper and narrowed his eyes. He quickly scanned what it said and sighed. Fine, one more note Riku.
'I am not two-timing her.'
'I never said you were. The others did. Tell them that you're not.'
Roxas sure was touchy about this subject. Well then, he sould be, but he was definitely aggravated that the others had found out. Now Sakura was going to hear all sorts of things. Especially from Sophie...
Roxas was about to reply when the bell rang signalling that class was over. He started to get up when someone's shadow appeared over him. He looked up just to be slapped... hard.
"Don't you dare hurt Sakura!" Sophie scolded.
Riku sat for a moment, a bit dazed. Sophie wasn't one to resort to violence very often. This was definitely going to turn into an epidemic, as far as teenage drama and rumors were involved.
As Sophie walked off, Riku got up to put an arm across Roxas' shoulders in an attempt of comfort. "C'mon. Let's head to lunch."
Roxas shrugged off Riku's arm and glared. "If anything happens to break my relationship with Sakura, this is your fault, and you're the one who's going to pay for it."
Roxas walked off eager to go find Sakura before one of her (overly)protective friends could get to her first.
Riku sighed and followed closely. He wasn't trying to break them up. Okay yeah, he would like it if they did. He would like it a lot. But that wasn't his ultimate goal. At least not in the beginning. It had been to get Roxas to accept his emotions towards Kira, and do what was best. It had just gotten so big... 'Which is really a good or bad thing depending on where I stand...' he thought.
Roxas spotted Sakura around the corner and smiled... then a horrified look replaced his smile as he saw Sophie talking to her. "Shoot," Roxas muttered. He heard Riku come up behind him and he frowned. "What do you want now?"
"Nothing. I always eat with you guys. Am I not allowed to anymore?" Riku's otne was normal, as if he didn't see what was happening in front of him.
"I'm going to talk to Sakura... alone," Roxas said hoping that the silver haired boy would get it and leave. He didn't bother to check if he left or not, he began walking towards Sakura.
"Really?" Sakura asked a frown on her face.
"Yeah, I mean they could be rumors, but then Roxas said that he wasn't going to break up with you," Sophie said.
"He did, so then, what did he mean?" she asked her voice raising as slight disbelief filled her tone.
"They were just rumors, I was denying them," Roxas said walking up to her.
Sakura whirled around and fixed him with a narrowed glare. "You sure about that?"
"Really Sakura, you know I care about you," Roxas said looking at her.
She looked away unable to know what to think. "I'm going to lunch," she said before turning abruptly and left.
Roxas clenched his hand into a fist and mentally cursed Riku. It was his fault for making Sakura distrust him...
"Roxy? What the hell happend?" Kira said, alarmed. Before he could respond, she turned his head to face hers. "Don't say 'nothing.' This isn't nothing. I worry about you alot lately..." she drifted off. Did she really just say that? What was he going to think now?
'I hoep she didn't break up with him,...yet I kind've do. What's wrong with me?' Kira thought. For she had seen Sakura storm off, and now Roxas was so tense. What had happend?
Roxas looked at Kira and bit his lip as a maelstrom of feelings blew through him. Riku... was right. He did like Kira a bit more than as a friend, but he liked Sakura more. He was not going to two time the girl he cared for and who was also his friend.
"Why? Because you like me?" Roxas asked his voice unknowingly harsh. He broke away from her and walked off intent on going to the roof.
Kira stared after him, stunned. She had never admitted it to herself, but she knew it was true. His words cut her deep, though. It hurt.
Riku had scene this all take place, although he couldn't hear what they were saying and had no idea what was going on. Obviously Roxas and Kira were too emotional to talk to, so he went in search of Sakura.
"Hey Sakura, what's up?" he wasn't going to act as if he knew everything. If Sakura wanted to talk to him about it, she could. But he wasn't going to start the conversation off. Roxas was already making him feel a little guilty.
Sakura sighed and twirled a piece of cherry blossom inbetween her fingers. "The sky," she replied boredly. It was her usual response, but she felt too miserable to really respond.
"Aren't you going to eat lunch?" Riku asked nonchalantly. He had to admit, he was a little worried about her.
Sakura held up the brown lunch bag by her side and offered it to him. "I'm not hungry, you can have it. I think there's some chocolate in there if you want some," she said without any inflection in her voice.
Riku sighed and opened the bag. He didn't want to leave Sakura alone to go buy his lunch, but he was hungry...
"Aren't they pretty this time of year? The Sakura blossoms, I mean..." he motioned to the one that she was twirling between her fingers.
She nodded although she didn't really look at it. "Riku?" she spoke after a moment of silence.
"Yes Sakura?" He responded, turning his attention fully on her.
"What exactly happened in your lit. class?" she asked looking at him with eyes that were blank of any emotion.
Riku looked down. This was going to be hard to explain without lying, blaming it all on himself or hurting Sakura. "Well, me and Roxas were passing notes when Tidus took it and passed it through the class. Eventually it got to Sophie before it came back to me."
"What were the two of you writing?" she asked.
"Well, we were talking about you. . . " Riku swallowed the sudden lump in his throat.
Sakura paused and fully looked at him. He seemed, troubled. Why? "Why? Why were the two of you talking about me?"
"I was . . . wondering whether he thought Kira liked him or not." Riku sighed and refused to meet her eyes. It was a stretch of the truth, and he didn't want to give it away. If she asked many more questions, which he thought she was going to, he'd have to come out with it.
She frowned. He wasn't telling her something. "Riku... look at me," she told him. When he still refused, Sakura stood up and walked over to him. She tugged on the tie that was part of his school uniform and made him look at her. "What are you hiding from me?"
Riku looked at her. Her face was only inches from his own. This caused a blush that he was unable to hide and for a brief moment he was tempted to... no, no, no that would only make things worse. Sighing he came out with it. "I have a hunch that Roxas likes Kira and he's hiding it from himself because he thinks I'm trying to take you from him. sakura, I'm sorry..."
Sakura bit the inside of her lip as she heard what Riku said. She let go of his tie and sat down abruptly on the ground. She sighed and held her hand up to her face. "I don't know what to think anymore," she murmured. Her eyes swirled with confusion as she tried to think of a way that what she heard wasn't true.
"Riku?" she asked.
"What is it, Sakura?" Riku looked at her this time, a sad hopelessness in his eyes.
Sakura got up, her face still covered. "There's a bag by the tree, they're full of cookies. Give them to Kira could you?" she asked before she turned around and started to walk away.
"Sure. . . Sakura wait!" Riku stood up and took a few seps towards her.
She stopped but didn't look back at him. "What?" she asked her voice quiet and shaky as if she were holding back tears.
He walked up to her and embraced her in a hug. "Look, are you going to be okay? Roxas loves you, He's sure of that and Sophie got the wrong end of the story. Whatever she told you isn't true. It's going to be okay." He breathed the last into her hair, still hugging her tightly. "It'll be okay... really."
Sakura stilled. It... felt comforting. With Riku holding her...
It suddenly dawned on her why Riku seemed to be so troubled before. And, other things. He liked her... but he still told her that.
A stray tear fell from her eye and her shoulders sagged against him. "I want to believe you, but everything seems to be changing. I want, no I need to go home," she said quietly. She paused and then continued. "Give me some time Riku, and then like you said, it'll be okay."
"Alright..." he let go and wiped the tear from her face before smiling. He was still worried, but he wasn't going to let her see that. "C'mon, if you're going home, I should take you to the nurse and vouch that you seem really sick. It's better than just skipping."
"Riku, thank you," Sakura murmured as she began walking back with him.
"No problem. That's what cool, sexy bastards are around for." He smirked at her and ruffled her hair.
"I'll ignore that comment," she said quietly although she didn't hit him as she normally would whenever he messed with her hair.

Had he maybe overreacted? He was too harsh to Kira, that he knew for sure. He hadn't been able to help it though...
Roxas groaned and laid his head on the wall. The breeze blew by and he sighed. Was Riku right? Did he... did he actually like Kira?
No... he couldn't. He loved Sakura.
Wait, loved? When had he thought of how he felt for Sakura in that term? Could Riku be... right?
Meanwhile, Kira had been sulking in the courtyard. She knew she liked him, but he loved Sakura and, being her best friend, she had to accept that he didn't love her. She sighed. How could he have known though, she never thought she was really flirting or anything. She had just treated him in the overly friendly way she treated everyone. Was there a rumor or something flying around?
Aerith looked at the small garden in the courtyard and smiled as she noticed that a flower was starting to bud. She looked up when she heard a sigh and stood up. She walked over to the sound and saw Kira.
"Oh, Kira, are you alright?" Aerith asked the younger girl her eyes full of concern.
"Yeah, I'm fine." Kira smiled weakly up at her. She wasn't feeling up to talking to anyone, let alone the school's counselor, about this.
Aerith nodded understanding her. She looked at the cherry blossoms in bloom and smiled. "May I talk to you about something that has been on my mind?"
"Sure...?" Kira wondered what Aerith had to say to her, but she didn't want to be rude and turn her away, so she motioned to the spot on the ground next to her.
Smiling still, Aerith sat down and continued looking at the cherry blossoms.
"Men can be so confusing with their feelings. They look like they're mad, but they're not..." Aerith said. She paused and looked at Kira. "Cloud and I have been going out for a very long time now. I can tell how he feels even if he's giving me a closed off look. Before though, I didn't know he actually held feelings for me. He seemed so... cold. Distant."
Aerith smiled once more. "Kira, don't let the mysterious behaviors of men to bring you down," she said before she got up and walked away.
Kira stared after the counselor for a moment. "Is everything Ido so obvious?!" she murmered, frustrated.
"Thank you Riku," Sakura said smiling at the silver-haired boy before she waved slightly and walked toward the gate towards home. She saw Kira at the courtyard and she contemplated going to say hi before her shoulders sagged and she continued walking away.
Riku waved goodbye to Sakura, still a bit worried.

Kira sighed, too caught up in her frustrated depression to notice Sakura or Riku.
