Two identical faces smirked at you as they watched you try to decipher who was who. Only one person had been able to win at the game they were playing, so they doubted that you would be able to guess correctly. Even Kaoru didn’t think that you would be able to figure it out, despite the fact that he was dating you!
“So, do you give up?†the twins asked in unison.
“Of course not!†you replied. You examined them carefully and walked around them. Your eyes squinted and you walked around them ten times before you stopped exactly in front of them. They looked at you in amusement, but didn’t say anything. You looked from one twin to the other and tilted your head to the side. A bright grin came onto your face and you clapped your hands in glee.
“Ano… I’m dating Kaoru right?†you asked.
“Yeah, you are,†the twins agreed.
“Then Kaoru would get jealous if I flirted with Hikaru right?†you asked putting a finger onto your lower lip.
The twins looked at each other and then looked at you. “Yes, he would.â€
You put a pout on your face and continued, “Then would Kaoru get mad if I mistook Hikaru for him?â€
The twins were silent for a moment as they considered your question.
Seeing the opportunity, you walked closer to them. They watched you and their eyebrows rose when they saw you walk behind them.
You felt a little nervous about what you were about to do, but it was the only way that you were going to win. There was no way that you were going to lose! Dirty, underhanded trick or not! Steeling yourself, you grinned and stepped closer hugging the twin in front of you around the waist.
A surprised gasp came to your hearing and you noticed a fist clenched belonging to the twin standing next to the one that you were holding. You looked up into the surprised eyes of Hikaru and smirked. “Hi Hikaru,†you said before you let go of him. “So… did I win?â€
They turned around to look at you and you blinked at the calmness of Kaoru’s face. He… wasn’t mad at you? Why not though? You used a low and dirty trick to win, so why wasn’t he mad?
“Yes, you did,†the twins said in unison.
You inwardly frowned at that. You couldn’t hear anything in Kaoru’s voice. It was blank. Why? Usually you could hear laughter in his voice, or just joy. So, why didn’t you hear anything?
“Cool,†you said with a fake smile on your face. A little fear slipped into your voice, but you were sure that they hadn’t heard it. “Uh, I have to go. I suddenly remembered that I forgot my books in my last class.†You waved at them before you walked out of the music room.
Outside, you leaned against the wall and reflected on what had happened.
The twins and you had been bored while waiting for the rest of the host club to get there. Their teacher had released them early and you had also been in their class, so naturally you followed them. Not to mention you were dating Kaoru, so of course you went with them. The twins decided to play the “Which one is Hikaru?†game and you agreed to play. That was your first time playing it, and you did not want to lose. So, you resorted to ways less than fair.
So, maybe you shouldn’t have chosen that particular way of tricking them.
You pushed yourself off the wall and headed toward the classroom. You had been telling them the truth; you did have some books that you had forgotten in there.
You found your books right where you left them on your desk. You picked them up and put them in your bag. You turned around to leave and a gasp escaped from your throat when you saw Kaoru standing in front of the door. “Kaoru?â€
He started walking towards you and you took a step back without thinking. You bumped into the wall and dropped your bag when suddenly Kaoru’s hands were on either side of your face. He leaned in close and just looked at you.
“Kaoru?†you repeated confused at his action. “What are you doing?â€
He ignored your question and rested his forehead on yours. “It had just been us, Hikaru and I. There was no he or I. We were separate, but the same. We were fine with that, but at the same time we yearned to be known for ourselves,†he said. He paused and then continued. “What you did… it hurt.â€
Understanding filled you at the same time guilt. “Kaoru… I’m sorry. I, I shouldn’t have done that,†you said wanting to look at the floor but unable to. You closed your eyes to compensate instead. “I won’t do it ever again.â€
His forehead left yours and you quickly found his hands on the sides of your face. “I know. Just promise me on thing.â€
“What’s that?†you asked opening your eyes to look at him.
“Don’t hug the wrong twin if you use that trick again okay?†Kaoru asked before he leaned down to place his lips on yours.
You met his lips back and then pulled away. You slipped out from under his arms after he let go of your face and grabbed your bag off of the floor. You grinned and said, “Who said that I didn’t hug the right twin?†You smirked at him before you dashed out of the room.
