Lets say "You think a new game that come out looks cool and you want to buy it but you don't know if it a good game or not. So you check for review and lots of different kind of rating. Which rating is the best or the best rating system for you?"
I prefer the rating system on games to be out of 5. To me it tell you in your face if it good or bad without the but it...Rating system out of 10 just mean metaphorically the bigger the number the better. A "9 out of 10" is just a "4.5 out of 5" to me a "4 out of 5" game is very similar to a "4.5 out of 5. There not much of a different to have it own category. I like it my rating system to be simple and just tell you if it good or bad.
5 out of 5 = A perfect game that is a must buy(not really perfect but you know what I mean)
4 out of 5 = A good game but not as perfect. You may want to buy it
3 out of 5 = Same as any other game. Fan of the game might want to buy it.
2 out of 5 = Less than same as other game. only hard core fan and dumb people should buy this game.
1 out of 5 = just plain suck
what your favorite rating system?

I prefer five point ratings in games. Really, why do you need to go to 10, and then give ratings in quarter points? Is someone really going to need to know the difference between 8 and 8.25? 6.75 and 7.25? I understand that 10 out of 10 is more impressive than 5 out of 5, but if it gets 5 out of 5, it is definitely worth playing, even if it only gets a 9.75 out of 10.
If I were to rate a game a 3 out of 5, then my rating out of 10 would be in the 5.5 to 6.5 range. When I say to use a 5 Star Guide, I fully expect 3.5, 2.5, 4.5, but I wouldn't push it to quarter points.
In my opinion, the issue you are describing deals more with it being different people grading the games. If you are looking at different people's reviews, you need to have a gauge on what rating they each give average games, because it could be different. Some people might give an average game a 6 out of 10, while others would give it a 7, while they both would describe the game as average, playable, but with nothing unique enough to make it a must-play. It has nothing to do with what system they use. It is just unavoidable that different people score games differently.
