Osai was shocked. "Former shifters? nuts!" That was one thing that he didn't know. He rubbed the back of his neck, suddenly tense.
He had an urge to call Seiya and tell her all about this, but he knew that she would come down here, complaining about how she had to take care of him. Plus, he didn't want to endanger her as well. It was bad enough that they were endangering Kaiyo by being here.
He sighed, "Do you have any ideas of who might be doing this? If it is even human? Maybe it's a shifter itself."

Midori shook her head at his question. "No, I haven't a clue of who it is. All that Brandt and I could figure out was that whoever it is, keeps themself in my, well, I guess our former village," she said.
She straightened up slightly and winced. Well, her back was definitely going to be one big bruise, and she was definitely going to feel it tomorrow, if not later.
"Any more questions?" Midori asked a tired tone to her voice. She wondered if being the person under interrogation was allowed to have a cup of tea, because she was definitely not getting any more sleep for the rest of the day.

Kaiyo crossed her arms tensely, listening to them tell her about what these 'beasts' were after. "Are they after all shapeshifters? Or just ones from your village? Because if it's the former--" she quickly morphed into her half-fox, half-humanoid shape before continuing. "--then I'm in trouble too."
She stared hard at Midori, waiting for some gasp of recognition or something. There was no denying who she was now. the only question was, what were they going to do about it?
"And with that subtle transition, we'll move onto the businnes portion of our evening..." Kaiyo grinned, flashing small white fangs surrounded by the red fur of a distorted muzzle.

Midori stared at the half-fox girl in front of her and narrowed her eyes. She seemed familiar, but she couldn't place it. She had stayed in the woods for quite a while so she wasn't exactly up to date with what happened beyond it. Regardless of what she was though, it was the fact that she was a shapeshifter that was the issue. "Well, you're in trouble if they find out that you're a shapeshifter. Just wear lots of perfume to disguise your scent or something."
She nodded and tilted her head to the side. "Well, perhaps first off, what are you going to do with me, the strange shapeshifter that entered your life without even asking?"

Osai at Kaiyo, surprised that she would show her Kitsune form to Midori. Had she started to trust Midori? He wondered, looking now to Midori to see her reaction. It didn't seem that Midori knew who Kaiyo really was, and he guessed that was good, for now.
He was about to add his comment, but Midori quickly asked her question, and Osai went silent. He was in no place to make that kind of decision, even if he knew what to say, which, he didn't. He looked to Kaiyo, waiting for her response.
When she didn't say anything, he gave it a try. "She could be helpful, that is, if you want to get involved. Whoever is out there hunting Shifters doesn't know who you are, and Midori and I could just leave now and keep you out of this mess. It's your choice." He didn't really want to leave her, but he also didn't want to endanger her. He was half hoping that she would make them leave.

Kaiyo raised an eyebrow at Midori's obvious ignorance of anything mainstream. She was in every newspaper across the country just last week! She opened her mouth to explain but quickly shut it. This girl had obviously been living very deeply under a rock, and she refused to be insulted by it.
Besides, she didn't want to open the can of worms by telling Midori her life history and criminal status. She'd have to worry about gagging and imprisoning the poor girl. Besides, she could cross that bridge when it came to it if Midori did ever happen to look at a recent paper.
Kaiyo didn't show the sudden sadness she felt at the idea of Osai leaving, off to fight some dangerous monster with this little wolf. Nope, she couldn't have that. She grinned at them. "Neither of you have seen my gun room, have you? Trust me, these creatures don't stand a chance. Count me in, I always liked a good fight."
She turned back to the wolf girl. "Perhaps I misjudged you--" she started slyly, she was such a good liar, "--I'm gonna help you get rid of this pest problem you seem to have and as long as you don't get too nosy, I'm sure we will be able to stand each other." She had almost said 'friends,' but this Midori was smart and that was laying it a bit thick.

Midori thought over Kaiyo's words and found that she still didn't trust her. Then again, she hadn't really done anything to allow her to trust her in the first place. As it was, she needed only trust her enough to know that the fox girl wouldn't kill her when Midori's back was turned. "Fine, I'll abide by those terms."
She moved slightly and winced as the movement made the wound on her back sting. She really needed to get that wound of hers treated... but at the same time she really didn't feel like asking anyone to help her.
Midori looked at the floor once before she looked up at Kaiyo and Osai. "Well if we've all decided on tackling these creatures, might I make the first suggestion of resting up before going after them," she suggested.

Osai smiled and nodded. "That sounds good. We can start tomorrow afternoon." He glanced at Kaiyo. "I'll take her up to the guest room next to mine, kay?" He didn't wait for her answer before standing and taking Midori's hand, leading her up the stairs to the bed room. "If there's anything you need, I'm right next door." He smiled and went into his own room.
He fell onto the bed and let out a heavy sigh. "Man, so much has happened in the last few days. Seiya gets me caught up in Kaiyo's thievery business and then she ditches us, this thief just so happens to be a girl that I actually love, I meet another Shifter that might be from the same village as I, and now the three of us are going to go out hunting former Shifters...Fun." He sat up, whipping his forehead.
He reached into his pocket, pulling out his phone. He looked at it for a second, before calling up his sister. And he held it up to his ear, waiting for her to answer.
"What?!" Osai thought about just hanging up. He hated talking to Seiya when she's in a bad mood. "Bad time?" "Um, yeah. You wanna call me back, like never?" There was anger and tension in her voice, and she also sounded tired. "Um, actually, I need to talk with you now." She sighed before answering, "Fine. But make it quick." "It's about what happened when we were younger. In the forest--"
There was silence from both sides of the call. "Seiya?" Osai tried to break the silence. "Did--did you find it? Our village, our parents?" Osai sighed, not wanting to give her bad news. "No. But I met this girl that is also a Shifter, like us. She might be from the same village, as well. The problem is, you remember that creature that attacked us?" "Yeah. That almost killed us." "What?" There was a second voice that came through the phone. "Seiya, is there someone there with you?" "Yeah, her name's Krii." "That artist girl? Well, anyway, it turns out that there are tons of those creatures, and that they used to be Shifters.” ”What?! That can’t be…Who’s doing this?” “I’m not totally sure how to answer that. Midori, the girl I spoke of, doesn’t really know herself. But, whoever, or whatever did this was the one who attacked our village, and they are controlling these once to be Shifters. Kaiyo, Midori and I are going to go out tomorrow to start searching.”
”I’m going to. Where are you?” “No.” ”No? I’m not some little girl who can’t protect herself.” Osai sighed, “I know you aren’t. But what if the worst happened? The four of us could be the last Shifters that even know of all this. I shouldn’t have even called you in the first place.” f**k that! I don’t care what you say, I’m going. You know I could find where you are easily. And besides, if you’re going up against those same creatures that we faced, you’re gonna need as many people as possible.”
Osai hated the idea, but there was no fighting against it. He was getting all the people he cared about and loved into this mess. He rubbed his head, frustrated with himself. “Fine. I’ll text you the address. We’ll be leaving tomorrow afternoon.” ”Sounds good. I’ll be there in the morning.” “Oh! And Seiya?” he added before she could hang up, “Don’t get any more people involved. Please.” ”Too late for that!” the voice of Krii came through the phone. ”You can expect two for tomorrow.” And she hung up.
“nuts—“ Osai quickly texted Kaiyo’s address to Seiya, and then placed his phone next to him. “Kaiyo’s gonna kill me. She is already upset with Seiya for ditching us at the heist, and now she’s coming tomorrow, with a human!” He lied back and stared at the ceiling, until tiredness took over and made him fall asleep.

Kaiyo's face twitched as Osai walked away with Midori in tow. She wasn't used to people assuming the next step, she was used to not trusting anyone, and having hired help look up to her for the next move. What had become of her simple life as a thief? Sure, it got dull after a while since there was no more risk, no more challenge. But the money was good, and she had everything she needed. She had never had to depend on anyone before.
Yet here was Osai. The little traitor that if he were anyone else she'd had gotten him out of her house and hired an assassin. Why couldn't she do that now? Why did she love the fact that he was under her roof? If it weren't for the wolf, she had a feeling she would've followed him up to his room like some stupid love-sick pup.
Her eyes widened. She did not love him. She'd only known him a couple of days?! Sure, he was cute, but she didn't love him.
She shook the thought out of her head and went upstairs, slowing as she passed his room. “Fine. I’ll text you the address. We’ll be leaving tomorrow afternoon....Oh! And Seiya?”
That little traitorous bastard! First it's the Midori girl and now his sister? She was technically a partner, but Kaiyo might as well renounce that title since she had ditched them. Kaiyo pressed her ear to the door, hungry for more reason to kick him out.
“nuts—Kaiyo’s gonna kill me. She is already upset with Seiya for ditching us at the heist, and now she’s coming tomorrow, with a human!”
She smiled despite herself. One thing was for sure, he wasn't dumb. Both of her hands curled into fists as she thought of everyone who was getting int he way of her simple life. Steal, get the money, find another client. That was always the drill. Then Osai showed up with his devil of a sister and it all seemed fine, even good for her dull routine. Especially when that girl left them alone. Kaiyo thought of last night, the drinks, the cake, his lips... no, she wasn't going there.
The even breathing from inside the room let her know that Osai had gone to sleep. She continued down the hallway, sighing for what could have been. She almost didn't see one of the workers until she nearly ran them over. "Oh, miss! I'm sorry, it was all my fault. Thought you had left the house by now. I--"
Kaiyo raised a hand to put a silence to the girl's protests. "It was my fault, Harriet. Be a dear for me and tell the cook to make a large breakfast in the morning. Two more are coming to stay with us for a while. I want them to feel welcome, you hear? Set it all up in the East wing. That's a good girl. I'm retiring for tonight."
She nodded. "Goodnight, miss."
Kaiyo smiled and walked the rest of the way to her room, being sure to lock the door behind her. She had strangers in her house, and she definitely wasn't stupid enough to trust idiots or traitors.

Midori stared at the door and tilted her head to the side as she thought. Everything seemed to be going really fast and she needed a moment to think it all over. She went over to the bed and sat down as she recalled the events back to when things had changed.
When Brandt and her had gone off alone from the remnants of her village, they had gone to work in a bad area of the city in order to get information on the being who wanted to enslave people and creatures alike. She remembered that they had found a clue and when they followed up on it, the creature (who she believed was actually a shapeshifter) was sent on them. They had to run and keep on running as the creature came after them again and again.
Midori hugged herself as she remembered what had happened next.
Brandt had gone to meet a shapeshifter who said he knew information on the creature. He had told her to stay at the hotel, but she hadn't trusted the shapeshifter and had followed him. Her instinct proved correct when the shapeshifter had turned out to be controlled. He suddenly turned into the creature before their eyes and Midori had stupidly stood there in shock that the creature had been one of her own people. Brandt noticed her just as the creature did and it was only because of his quick thinking that she had managed to survive.
He hadn't though. The creature managed to deal him a wound as he rushed over to her. They were able to get away from it, but Brandt was too wounded for even a shapeshifter to heal from. She had cried and begged for him not to die, but in the end.. his life had ended and it was her fault.
Midori had wandered around after that and it wasn't until the creature found her again that she got to her senses. She had to keep running and take over from what Brandt had been trying to do. She kept running and stayed in the woodland areas so as to mix her scent with the animals already there.
That had worked for a bit until it snuck up on her and gave her the injuries that she had been recovering from recently. That was when she ran and eventually found the home of Kaiyo, not that she knew it at the time. Someone there helped her with her injuries and she had been staying there to recover. Which then lead to what had happened with Osai and Kaiyo.
She groaned slightly as she laid face down on the bed. It was her fault that Brandt was killed and here she was involving more people. What if she ended up doing something that led to their deaths? She didn't want that to happen... she couldn't... The situation was out of her hands though, all she could do was try her best to keep them alive. With that thought in mind, Midori closed her eyes and drifted to sleep.

Osai woke up, his phone vibrating against his head. He mumbled as he turned his head, facing the other way, his phone sliding closer to him and now vibrating in his eye. He grabbed it quickly, just missing the call. He sighed, seeing that it was his sister, and sighed again to see what time it was. "Why is she calling me at 6 am? She never gets up until after noon." He sat up, rubbing his eyes, trying to get awake enough to actually have a conversation with Seiya.
He changed into a pair of jeans and t-shirt, wishing that he had brought some of his own clothes. He stepped out into the hall, dialing his sister's number. He started down the stairs, thinking to grab a bit to eat to wake him up some more. He heard his phone start to ring, meaning that it had connected to the other. He pushed it up against his ear, continuing down the stairs.
He had reached the kitchen soon after, still waiting for Seiya to pick up. Then, there was a faint sound of knocking. That sound jogged his memory of Seiya and Krii. "nuts!" And just as he started to head for the door, Seiya's voice came over the phone. "Knock, knock, lil' bro." He sighed, closing his phone and stuffing it in his pocket, mumbling to himself as he walked to the front door.
He opened it a crack, giving a fake smile of happiness to the two that stood there. "Sorry, I'm not interested in buying anything, thank you." He joked, closing the door.
Seiya wasn't amused. She stuck her foot between the door and the frame, stopping it from closing all the way. "Very funny, Osai." She pushed on the door, easily knocking Osai back, and entered, Krii following behind.
Osai looked at Krii. "You sure this is the same girl that you hit on at the cafe?" She didn't seem as cute as she had before. Changing from lolita dresses to skater's rags.
Krii rolled her eyes. "What? Am I not aloud to change my look?" She sighed, crossing her arms. She still thought that Osai was the one who hit on her first, not knowing that it was actually Seiya pretending to be her brother. She knew that they both could shape shift, but Seiya had never told her about actually being Osai that one time and pretending to be his little sister as well. So, she still didn't like Osai very much.
Osai lead them to the kitchen, where the three of them sat. He looked at Krii for a while, and then glared at Seiya. "I'm still not happy about you bringing a Human." His words were sharp, his eyes stabbing right through her.
Seiya smiled, devilishly. "Well, actually, Krii isn't a Hu--"
"Wait." Osai cut her off, "I think I hear movement upstairs. Be prepared, 'cause we'll hear yelling soon..."

Kaiyo traipsed down the stairs elegantly in jeans and a extra tight tank top. If she wasn't going to yell at Osai for bringing these people to her door, she might as well tease him a bit and make his life hell.
She passed by Midori's door without much of a glance. She could get up when she wanted. Kaiyo was in no hurry to have her for breakfast company.
She came into the kitchen, a look of mock surprise on her face. "Who invited the brat here? And why is she with some gangster in my kitchen?" She said pleasantly, smiling at the two new guests before crossing the kitchen to the coffee pot.
"Actually, you can tell me over breakfast. It's this way." She smiled at them, took her freshly poured cup of coffee and left the room without waiting for a further response.
After she had left the room though, she couldn't help but let her smile turn into a smirk.

Midori lifted her head from the pillow as she heard the sound of voices downstairs. She listened quietly for a bit before she relaxed. It didn't sound like there was trouble, so she wasn't going to hurry down.
She sat up and stretched, a smile making its way to her face when she felt that her wounds were nearly healed. She heard the sound of someone walking past her door and she paused. With the way the footsteps were, Midori was guessing that it was Kaiyo that had just came. She mentally sighed and wondered whether she should go down just yet.
Midori looked outside and then to the door. Well, no use wasting a sunny morning, she thought as she walked over to the window and opened it. She went over what form she wanted before she hopped onto the window sill and jumped out, looking like any other raven with a few exceptions. She flew out and perched in a nearby tree when she saw a flash of movement through a window.
She shifted quickly back to herself before shifting into a white cat with her usual black patterns on her fur. She rested on the tree branch and silently watched the people through the window.
